The sponsor's argument
Why Steve Rhoads says this is needed
Michael Kilbride commenced employment as a court officer on November 28, 1994; he transferred to Nassau District Court in May of 2000. Mr. Kilbride was injured during the course of his employment on January 14, 2009 when he was assaulted by a member of the audience in a courtroom at 99 Main Street in Hempstead, New York. Mr. Kilbride has been receiving one-third disability pension since the date of the incident. This bill, if enacted into law, would allow Mr. Kilbride to receive a three-fourths accidental disability pension.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
