The sponsor's argument

Why Siela Bynoe says this is needed

The Power House Church is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt religious organ- ization. Allowing the organization to be forgiven of property tax bills beginning from when they acquired title to this land will allow them to continue their work in the community and keep their place of worship. This legislation would allow for the Nassau County Assessor to accept an application for a retroactive property tax exemption for the Power House Church and therefore relieve current fiscal burden on this organization.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
