The sponsor's argument

Why James Sanders Jr. says this is needed

Artificial intelligence and facial recognition technologies have been increasingly utilized in criminal investigations, significantly impact- ing the legal landscape. The lack of transparency in AI methodologies and concerns over their accuracy have led to successful legal challenges against the use of AI-generated evidence. This legislation, seeks to balance the benefits of AI in investigative processes with the need for fairness and reliability in the use of these AI systems.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
