The sponsor's argument
Pursuant to approval memo 55 of 2024, the Executive sought to ensure that the underlying chapter's requirement that the public search func- tion managed by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) "Incarcerated Lookup" include former legal name(s) or known alias(es) would not require DOCCS to collect additional information beyond what it currently gathers. This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter that addresses those concerns.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
