The sponsor's argument
New York's inland waterways possess exceptional diversity and impor- tance, encompassing natural, recreational, industrial, commercial, ecological, cultural, and aesthetic values. Among these remarkable waterways is Moodna Creek, a tributary of the Hudson River that serves as a vital drainage system for eastern Orange County. Despite its modest size compared to the Hudson, Moodna Creek has significantly influenced the development and character of eastern and central Orange County. The formal designation of Moodna Creek as an inland waterway would enable nearby municipalities to access grants through New York State's Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. These grants could support feasibility studies as well as the design and implementation of compre- hensive land use and watershed management plans, fostering sustainable development and enhanced stewardship of this invaluable natural resource.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
