The sponsor's argument
Why Jeremy Cooney says this is needed
Our emergency services providers are vital to keeping residents of this state safe. This bill, by providing free credits to one class per semes- ter for SUNY, CUNY, and community college students that serve as volun- teer firefighters, EMS providers, and auxiliary police officers, shows that we value the hard work and sacrifices these members make daily.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
