The sponsor's argument

Why Anthony H. Palumbo says this is needed

This bill would grant uniformed court officers in the village of Sag Harbor peace officer status, provided however, that nothing in this subdivision shall be deemed to authorize such uniformed court officer to carry, possess, repair or dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate license has been issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal law.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
