The sponsor's argument

Why Jeremy Cooney says this is needed

The YMCA is for youth development, healthy living, and social responsi- bility. The YMCA is a non-profit entity that has associations across New York State. Branches exist in diverse communities across the state to give all an opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Every day, the YMCA works side-by-side with their neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background has access to programs that make people healthy, confident, and connected. This bill, by creating distinctive plates for the YMCA, will help expand the public's awareness of the YMCA program in New York State.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
