The sponsor's argument
While NYS is moving to make vehicles electric, that is not the best option for some New Yorkers. A one size fits all approach wilt not work for such a diverse state. For some areas, it is simply not sustainable to move in this direction. The state should not prohibit certain motor vehicle people drive and how they are powered, and New Yorkers should be able to use and buy what best fits their needs while still having a choice.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
