The sponsor's argument

Why Dean Murray says this is needed

This land alienation authorization bill has been requested by the Town of Brookhaven. The Town is working with Suffolk County and the LI Hous- ing Partnership to build a 32-lot single family affordable housing development. This development and associated roadway and related improvements requires a recharge basin to handle stormwater. The only appropriate location for the recharge basin, based on site proximity and topography, are two parcels of Town parkland that are undeveloped vacant woodland. The total amount of land the Town is seeking to alienate is 1.02 acres; parcel one, .44 acres and parcel two, .58 acres.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
