The sponsor's argument
Conditioning the receipt of ordinary disability benefit upon eligibility of primary social security disability benefits would unfairly impact members who have already been deemed disabled as a result of an injury. The receipt of this ordinary disability benefit should not be based on a member's eligibility for social security disability benefits.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
