The sponsor's argument

Why Jeremy Cooney says this is needed

This bill aims to enhance safety in work zones by suspending the regis- tration of vehicles that receive four or more citations from work zone speed cameras within an 18-month period. Work zones are high-risk areas where speeding poses significant dangers to both workers and drivers. Despite existing penalties, repeat offenders continue to jeopardize safety, and the current system has not fully deterred habitual violations. By linking registration suspension to repeated offenses, this bill strengthens enforcement and incentivizes compliance with speed limits in these areas.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
