The sponsor's argument

Why Roxanne J. Persaud says this is needed

Cancer survivors are incredibly strong and resilientpe:Jpi.e that over- came a deadly disease. Yet just because they overcame a disease does not mean that they cannot get cancer again. One's genetics can increase the likelihood of getting cancer, as well as cancer treatments like chemoth- erapy, as the immune system is weakened. Because of this, it is essen- tial. that cancer survivors be given the right to health screening considering they can be more vulnerable to getting the disease again. Cancer survivors have already gone through the pain and tribulations of overcoming the deadly disease; they should have the right to get preven- tative care due to the potential higher likelihood of them getting cancer once again.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
