The sponsor's argument
For nearly 126 years, the Bronx Zoo has served as a pivotal landmark for the community. It has established a learning environment for community members and forgoers across the State and Country, providing the impor- tance of conservation, preservation of native species, and promotion of zoology. This bill would allow the extension of inclusive access to all New Yorkers and community members to experience the culture and academia behind New York State's native species and wildlife - in this manner, all members of the community can experience the Bronx Zoo, not just those who can afford admission. Fundamentally, one day of free admission serves the diverse needs of community members, expanding access to New York City school groups, college students, and underserved youth and seniors and providing an atmosphere of educational exploration, creati- vity, and inspiration for all.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
