The sponsor's argument

Why George Borrello says this is needed

The hotel and motel tax provides the City of Olean with an essential source of revenue to support local initiatives, including tourism promotion, economic development, and infrastructure improvements. With- out this extension, the city would lose a valuable funding stream that benefits both residents and visitors. This legislation ensures the continuation of these benefits for an additional two years.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
