The sponsor's argument

Why Siela Bynoe says this is needed

This legislation would provide the Incorporated Village of Hempstead with an exemption from real property taxes pursuant to Section 406 of the Real Property Tax Law. The Incorporated Village of Hempstead is a municipal corporation within the County of Nassau and intends to use this property as a fire house. This legislation will provide for the County Assessor's office to correct this error and grant their exemption, and therefore issue refund for taxes paid.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
