The sponsor's argument

Why Robert Jackson says this is needed

Probation officers and probation officer trainees perform duties which are as stressful and physically demanding as other correction officers and sheriffs. As more violent felony offenders are being sentenced to probation, it is imperative that these probation officers and probation officer trainees' health are protected. This bill will provide probation officers and probation officer trainees the same benefit pertaining to a heart presumption as is provided by other law enforcement officers.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
