The sponsor's argument

Why Christopher Ryan says this is needed

When deputy sheriffs Brittany E. Dorn, Noah C. Hunt, Daniel D. Lorenzi- ni, Gordon J. Lopez, Tre C. Fesinger, Christopher L. Van Dusen joined the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department an error was made where they were not put into the twenty-year retirement plan for law enforcement. This was a clerical error. Legislation is now needed to allow these deputies to join the twenty-year retirement plan.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
