The sponsor's argument
This legislation was requested by the town of Montour following the resignation of the former justice in October of 2024. Due to the diffi- culty in finding anyone residing in the town willing to take the office, the Town Board is seeking to permit a person who is not a resident of the Town of Montour to serve as town justice.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
