The sponsor's argument

Why Siela Bynoe says this is needed

This legislation would provide the Al-Muneer Foundation, Inc. with an exemption from real property taxes pursuant to Section 420-a of the Real Property Tax Law. The Al-Muneer Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit place for worship including a religious school in the hamlet of Union- dale. This legislation will provide for the County Assessor's office to correct this error and grant their exemption, and therefore issue a refund for taxes paid.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
