The sponsor's argument

Why Cordell Cleare says this is needed

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) is an important advocate for older adults and people with disabilities who live in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other licensed adult care homes. Currently, LTCOP is authorized to oversee managed long-term care plans, but these provisions are set to expire on December 31, 2025. This bill would extend this authorization for another two years until December 31, 2027.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
