The sponsor's argument
Why Toby Ann Stavisky says this is needed
STEM traditionally does not include fields such as computer science. New York State will instead adopt a definition of STEM that embraces traditional science, technology, engineering, and math fields, as well as the fields of computer science and other related disciplines that equip students to pursue work in the Internet-based economy.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
