The sponsor's argument
Why Jessica Ramos says this is needed
In the aftermath of book bans, some libraries and library staff have experienced threats and harassment, some people even threatening library workers with weapons, which has created an unwelcoming and unsafe envi- ronment. The provisions in this legislation are necessary steps to provide protection for the staff and their communities so that access to library resources is available and accessible for all.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
