The sponsor's argument

Why Joseph A. Griffo says this is needed

Oneida county has requested this legislation following a troubling trend of increased speed violations through work zones and speed zones. The county implemented a pilot program in several school districts earlier this year with new speed cameras to capture and notify violators. During the first week trial run, the speed cameras captured several vehicles that traveled 50 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour school zone. This program will give Oneida county oversight as to where to place the cameras, and allows the county to send information to local law enforce- ment as needed for further investigation.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
