The sponsor's argument
Heath A. Wadhams currently serves as a part-time police officer for the Palmyra Police Department. Mr. Wadhams has expressed interest in transi- tioning to a new role as a full-time police officer but is currently unable to do so due to the age limit provided by the civil service law. Despite the change to the maximum age limit included in the FY2026 budg- et, Mr. Wadhams will continue to be ineligible to sit for the required civil service exam as he is over the age of 43 years old. This legis- lation has been requested by the Village of Palmyra Police Chief and would allow Mr. Wadhams to test for the full-time position.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
