The sponsor's argument

Why Nathalia Fernandez says this is needed

This bill extends the sunset provision of the 2021 law authorizing the village of Pelham Manor to install and operate traffic- control signal photo violation-monitoring devices or "red light cameras." The extension ensures continuity of enforcement of traffic-control signal violations and supports public safety objectives by allowing the program to contin- ue through December 1, 2031.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
