The sponsor's argument
Edward "Red" Corrigan was storied member of the volunteer firefighter community in the Town of Brookhaven. He was an active member of the North Patchogue Fire Department for 53 years. Over the course of his fire service, he attained the ranks of Captain of the Department and Fire Police Lieutenant. Along with his service with the NPFD, he was head mechanic for the Holtsville Fire Department, President of the Brookhaven Town Volunteer Firefighter's Museum, and part of the Patc- hogue Fire Department's legendary "Forty Thieves" 7 time New York State Champion fire drill racing team. In addition to his fire service, the life-long Patchogue resident was a U.S. Army veteran and Trustee of the First Baptist Church of Patchogue. The Route 112 bridge over Sunrise Highway is one of the main North-South access roads into the Village of Patchogue. Naming this overpass for Red Corrigan is a fitting tribute to an individual who volunteered so much for his community.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
