The sponsor's argument
Currently, the lung disease presumption exists for New York City Police Officers and Firefighters. As with these professions, the nature of the New York Deputy Sheriffs' law enforcement duties are both stressful and physically strenuous. This bill recognizes that the New York City Deputy Sheriffs should have presumption parity with New York City Police Offi- cers and Firefighters.
This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
