The sponsor's argument

Why Alexis Weik says this is needed

This act would amend the chapter of law governing the operation of the Bohemia Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association in a manner similar to that which has been done for other volunteer firefighters' benevolent associations so that it may more effectively attend to the well-being of the association, its members and their families.

This is the sponsor's own case for the bill, quoted from their memorandum. It is not Agora's description of what the bill does.
