Summary
This bill would require the Commissioner of Environmental Protection to retain two licensed exterminators to develop and implement a rodent abatement plan when the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) conducts specified types of construction work. Additionally, this bill would require one of the retained exterminators to provide rodent extermination services on a weekly basis if necessary. This bill would also require individuals performing private sewer work to certify that they retained two licensed exterminators, one of whom will be required to provide rodent extermination services on a weekly basis if necessary, before being issued a permit for sewer work by DEP. Finally, this bill requires the Commissioner of Environmental Protection and individuals performing private sewer work to provide written notice to property owners adjacent to the site of proposed construction work. This notice would provide a description of the rodent abatement efforts conducted at the site.
